Above pictures are taken using a N6600(Nokia 6600)’s camera, in a hurry this morning.

My new Canon PowerShot S2 IS arrived yesterday, It’s just as nice as I expected it would be. This is (one of) my dream come true. I’ve been browsing and hunting for a good camera since I don’t know when, The hunt become more intense in the last year and a half. I have seen many cameras (but not buying one ), but none of them are cheap enough for me to buy hehehe..

So, about a month and a half ago, I receive my BCA(Bank Central Asia) Card bill, and like always there’s a shopping catalog accompanying the bill. To my surprise, this Camera is in that catalog, and here’s the treat: There’s no interest (0%) for 12 months payment plan. I don’t care if the price is not the lowest price on the market, but the 0% and 12 months plan works for me, so I mailed my order to BCA(Bank Central Asia) Marchendising department a few days later. But, out of 3 things I ordered, this camera has a little problem. By e-mail I was told that the camera is out of stock and new stock will arrive in Indonesia at the end of October. Well, there goes my chance. I’ve planned to use this camera on many big occasions during September. For one, there are a lot of events in my Church at that month. Another one, on October 5 there’s a big event that involves a very famous artist in Indonesia, that come to Makassar to join in birthday celebration with my former workplace (Radio Cristy Makassar). The artist was Ari Wibowo (yes, the scream maker ). During his visit in Makassar, I have the chance to pick him up at the airport, take him to the hotel, later on, take him (escort him to be precise) to the birthday event, and later on the next day, take him back to the airport. There’s no screenshot, because there’s no camera! (so, you know why I’m basbang.. I have sometimes violated tao no. 7)

Haggai Institute

On October 20-22, I was in Malino, a small town about 70 KM from Makassar. I was there to attend a 3 days seminar of Haggai Institute. It’s an organization with the vision of empowering local leaders to serve God more effectively. At this meeting there were about 30 local participants from Makassar and South Sulawesi Province, all very talented and fruitful ministers of God. They were priests, businessman, worker (like me), medical doctor, and other occupations. They are all local church leaders and workers. The material of the seminar is about leadership, goal setting, integrity and urgency of gospel for the world. At the end of the seminar each of us were asked to write down our vision and mission for our lives and then write down our goals for 2006, in 8 aspects of life. One of the speakers was Christovita Wiloto, a young entrepreneur whose life achievements amaze a lot of the participants. He gave presentation about goal setting, and shows how a good goal setting can change and make life better for one person and his/her environment/family.

This is a great idea and a good community. Rather than sending out (Christian) workers throughout the world, HI vision was to enable and empower local workers to serve God better. A National Seminar will be held in Bali from November 22 till 26. I’ve already registered for this event, It’s quite expensive (from my worker-salary point of view), but I’m expecting more good and wonderful experience there. I myself is not a fully qualified alumni yet (‘alumni’ is a person who have _fully_ finish a series of seminars, like this one in Malino), because I missed out one session, a very critical one also, that is HI vision. I missed it because of my late departure to Malino due to office work and meetings. So, Bali, here I come (and this is also will be my first visit to Bali).

Unlike many other “Gajah-ers(the junk machine)”:http://id-gmail.info, who are invited by other users, I got this ivitation directly from “wordpress.com(you can ask for an account here)”:http://wordpress.com. But as I’ve always said, “satu aja bikin pusing, gimana kalau nambah?” or something like that

Another thing, this information came through while I was testing my new Fedora (yes, another Fedora) installation at home, testing the modem actually. My previous attempt to use my Prolink external Modem, had always came to a dead end, a bad and very slow connection. But this time, it’s connected correctly and it’s quite fast. I don’t know if it’s just the “euphoria”:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Euphoria of successfull connection or the wp.com information, but I think my connection now (using FC4(Fedora Core 4)) is faster than using the same connection/ISP(Internet Serivce Provider) in Windows XP.

This is a chance to be more creative, more specific, and demand more writing capabilities from me. Let’s just hope I can use this chance..
And last but not least, I have ONE (for now) invitation, anybody interested? FIFO(first in first out..)

Modified the style.css and sidebar.php a bit. I liked the old composition more. And I added in more information about myself on the Author section.

WORK!

Beberapa hari ini, saya diajak rapat dengan atasan, ujung-ujungnya seperti biasa, kerjaan nambah terus..
Saat ini saya harus menyelesaikan minimal 4 pekerjaan sekaligus:

1. Mencari alternatif collaboration portal untuk menggantikan MS Sharepoint Portal kami yang tewas (hilang data). Saat ini saya sedang melihat-lihat eGroupWare, atau mungkin pakai drupal aja sekalian
Dan yang penting harus di-host di luar kantor, biar kejadian data hilang itu nggak berulang lagi. Makassar sedang dalam masa pemadaman listrik bergilir.
2. Membuat analisis untuk modul kelas akselerasi untuk MCEC(Makassar Cyber Education Center) dengan data yang berasal dari SMA(Sekolah Menengah Atas) 17 Makassar.
3. Membuat TOR(Terms Of Reference) untuk implementasi Student Cyber Club, semacam Klub pecinta komputer untuk siswa-siswa di sekolah. Paper work!
4. Membantu SMA(Sekolah Menengah Atas) 15 Makassar untuk membuat proposal teknis untuk melengkapi fasilitas komputerisasi di sekolah bersangkutan. More Paper work!
5. Beberapa tugas lain yang sifatnya teknis, misalnya penarikan kembali komputer yang dipinjamkan ke sekolah, memantau perkembangan Canopy BWP(Broadband Wireless Platform), dan mencari data center di Makassar (emang ada?) untuk backup database.

Semakin dipandangi, semakin stres. Kok kerjaan saya sekarang lebih banyak paper work ya..
Selain itu, pekerjaan lain, melakukan monitoring penggunaan bandwidth juga cukup menyita perhatian, apalagi saya lagi mencoba ‘barang baru’ yang namanya cacti, yang disarankan oleh mas Affan pada komentar-nya di salah satu posting saya. Tambah lagi, saya juga diperbantukan untuk mendukung (dari sisi ICT(Information Communication Technolgy)) untuk lembaga ICT-Ed yang dibentuk untuk memfasilitasi pelatihan IT untuk guru-guru di Makassar.

Biasanya saya tidak pernah menceritakan masalah pekerjaan saya di blog ini, tapi kali ini rasanya ingin aja cerita, biar blog ini berasa lebih personal. Saya juga sudah agak lama tidak meng-update blog ini secara berkesinambungan. Lagipula saya juga perlu catatan biar gak kelupaan ama pekerjaan yang menumpuk, makin ribet dan makin bikin pusing ini..

Ngomong-ngomong, saya lagi nyari theme baru yang siap pakai buat WordPress nih.. gak sempat-sempat mau ngebongkar theme ini.. Ada yang mau kasi saran? Makasih sebelumnya!

Fedora

(Almost) A Month of silence. – I’m not good at maintaining a personal blog. This sucks.

Anyway, beberapa hari (lebih seminggu) ini gua masuk dalam RPM(Redhat/RPM Package Manager) Hell di Fedora. Semua paket yang bisa diinstal dari CDnya gua instal.. kecuali yang versi devel-devel gitu deh, termasuk beberapa paket yang terkait dengan bahasa. Gua misahin yang mana udah diinstal ama Anaconda, yang mana belum, lalu yang belum itu gua gabungin dalam satu folder.. Tujuannya, biar gampang kalo mau instal ulang

Abis itu, gua lakukan hal yang serupa dengan paket-paket update yang gua download dari planetmirror. Pertama gua pisahin yang udah tua-tua; hampir tiap hari ada update sih, jadi hampir tiap hari gua misah-misahinnya Udah gitu, pisahin juga yang versi devel dari paket bersangkutan, baru deh gua instal.. bener-bener RPM Hell.. dependency sucks!

Yang terakhir, paket-paket Fedora Extras, dan FreshRPMs juga gua gituin.. jadi sekarang, kalo gua mau instal ulang Fedora, tinggal buka folder-folder kumpulan paket itu lalu rpm -iUvh *

Memang, tindakan gua ini bodoh, tolol dan stupid. Tapi I like it that way, penasaran aja kalo masih kurang sesuatu.. dan ah,.. bahagianya kalau udah gak ada dependency yang tidak terpenuhi.. Itung-itung belajar.. (alesan!) Senang juga sih, akhirnya bisa kenal lebih banyak software unik di Linux, jadi yah, nggak rugi-rugi banget lah

Terakhir, gua sekarang lagi baca-baca manual YUM(YellowDog Update Manager).. lain kali pake ini aja kali ya

Hm, kalo dipikir-pikir, BLOG ini not bad juga, mampu bertahan setelah sekian lama.. sejak zaman xanga (2001) hingga saat ini, kayaknya ini udah blog gua yang ke 4 deh yang isinya lumayan banyak.. yang lain yang isinya cuma 1 atau 2 post sih banyak banget..
Apalagi kalo diingat blog ini sebenarnya awalnya hanya gua iseng mau coba lihat wordpress itu kayak gimana sih.. pernah dulu sempat mau ngehapus, tapi bertahan juga sampai sekarang. Kayaknya ini gara-gara abis gua memulai blog ini, gua kenal ama komunitas blogger ‘sinting’ yang ada di id-gmail.
Sekarang, ada keinginan untuk mengubah design blog ini, tapi gua pesimis, pasti mandeg lagi seperti dulu.. males ngoprek css..

Udahan ah..
